2nd magazine is always pretty consistent, and their themed issues and specials are always worth adding to those teetering piles of publications you deemed necessary but haven’t fully digested yet. We single dialect doofuses used to justify buying Japanese magazines for the imagery alone, but with a new and improved Google Translate on the phone, we can glean a little extra information from them nowadays. Vol. #122 is Nike-centric and dedicates almost a fair chunk of the issue to the swoosh and the world around it. Beyond the obvious Air Max bits, there’s a good photo essay on the Beaverton brand headquarters (complete with shots of that strange walk of fame that incorporates some bizarre interpretations of sporting legends), plus an excellent little ACG retrospective. Part of me still clings onto a time when a publication like this from the Japan Centre was pretty much a portable Google compared to what I could find online.
